State House Girls’ High School Trip Will be in Dubai Because They Can

If the best high school memory trip you hold is traveling in your school bus either to a well-known geographical or historical site in Kenya or to The Bomas of Kenya, or to a fellow school and then later lunching on soda and bread, then you should read this.

Statehouse Girls which is well known for entertaining President Uhuru Kenyatta and the first lady Margaret Kenyatta as well as often being among top performers in KCSE (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education) is doing it big. In a letter sent to parents on the 16th of February 2018, the school requested parents to support their daughters towards the Dubai educational trip. It will be a 5 day trip from August 13th to August 18th 2018 that will cost a total Ksh 100,000 per student. The letter has pointed out that the trip total cost of ksh100, 000 will take care of the air ticket, airport transfers, Dubai visa, travel insurance as well as 5 night accommodation at Regal Plaza Hotel.

The itinerary includes enjoying tours around the city of Dubai, a dhow cruise with dinner, desert safari, visiting the Dubai aquarium and underwater zoo, full day at Wild Wadi Water Park and shopping. They will also have an educational tour to some schools in Dubai.

The letter below has caused quite a stir on Kenyan social media, not because this is not something that can be imagined, but because the schools that would ideally go to such trips are way out of reach for the average struggling middle class family. State House Girls doesn’t quite fit in that category of ‘group of schools’, and the girls are gonna party like it’s 1999.Statehouse Girls Dubai
