This Kenyan MP Wants to Change Lives of his Poor Constituents With Education

Kibra High School

Kibra Member of Parliament is very committed to seeing his political manifesto come to life, providing education to the society being top of his priorities. The legislator has unveiled his latest project of constructing a school that is underway, sharing photos of the half-completed institution on social media which have wowed Kenyans.

MP Okoth oversaw the construction and official launch of Ksh 48 Million state of the art Mbagathi High School and is working hard to see the completion of his second initiative as promised to the public.

“Access to secondary school education is critical. For the majority of families in Kibera, footing the cost of boarding schools for their boys and girls is simply unaffordable. We, therefore, must provide quality day-school options within walking distance. We now have the opportunity to build two new secondary schools before 2017,” stated Okoth, when he stepped into power.

Torn between what to name the institution, he took a poll to social media, where the majority settled for Kibra High school while others insisted the school should be named after him in honor of his dedication towards impacting positively to the lives of Kibra residents.

Although the 41-year-old leader has been battling stage four colorectal cancer which he said came with the fear of the unknown and complete change in his life with the harsh chemotherapy taking a toll on his immune system, Okoth has remained solid and totally committed to his political course. His visionary leadership and determination have earned him massive support from fellow Kenyans and other leaders.

Kibra High School is now one more government day school option available for his people adding to the already existing Olympic High, Raila Education Centre High School, Shadrack Kimalel Secondary, and Mbagathi Girls High School.
