Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital was officially been handed over to the Kenyan Government by Chinese contractors in May. Speaking during the ceremony, Kenyatta University Hospital Board Chairperson Olive Mugenda said the facility will kick start its operations from August 2019 with its main objective being to provide quality health services to all Kenyans.
“I want to emphasise what our CS for health said that it will be a referral hospital and also a specialised hospital. We will be able to deal with all kind of diseases on a referral basis and help Kenyans who may be suffering from different those diseases. The impact of the hospital will be great as you all know health care is one of the President Kenyatta’s Big Four Agenda and we are definitely playing that role very well,” Mugenda said.

The Referal and Research Centre is now a new state corporation, registered under the legal notice of the State Corporations Act Cap as a Level 6 tertiary Hospital.
