Growing up with a wicked stepmother is every child’s nightmare, especially when she is more than willing to end your life by all means. One Annet Namata was suspected of forcefully feeding her teenage stepdaughter on food mixed with her menstrual blood.

She told the women council that she had been ill-advised by her friends to feed the minor with menstrual blood in order to turn her into a lunatic. According to medical research, menstrual flow contains discharge, cervical mucus, and uterine tissue, which makes it a favorable environment for bacteria and blood-borne diseases such as HIV.

She was taken to the police by her husband Yunus Lungu after neighbors informed him that her wife had been mixing menstrual blood with the sauce which she forced the teenager to eat. In her defense, she told the women council that she had been ill-advised by her friends to feed the minor with menstrual blood in order to turn her into a lunatic

Namata was first arrested in June but went into hiding after securing a police bond. However, she was tracked down and re-arrested from Katosi landing site where she had sought refuge, according to Kampala Metropolitan deputy Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire.

Medics equally state that blood in any form is toxic when ingested, because the body has difficulty in excreting excess iron contained in the blood. Menstrual blood is supposed to be treated as waste and there are no medical researchers proving its value into the human body through ingestion.
