Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso has succumbed to a long illness while recuperating in Nairobi Hospital, where she was admitted. She was aged 59.
A few hours ago, doctors attending to the ailing Governor advised on limited visits with her office giving official communication on the recommendation which the doctors said will be god for her recovery.
“The governor is recuperating and is under observation by her doctors who have recommended [for] her enough rest and limited visitation for a speedy recovery,” County Communications Director Ezra Kirui said in the statement.
In May 29, Dr. Laboso had left the country for London, United Kingdom where she was admitted at Royal Madden NHS hospital before being flown to India three weeks ago for further treatment. On June 14, she was brought back to the country following advice by her doctors who said she would continue receiving treatment locally for her long illness which was not open to the public.
Reports on her ailing became public on June 5 when opposition leader Raila Odinga accompanied by Kenya’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Manoah Esipisu visited her in a London hospital.
The late had maintained a low profile for some time, sparking speculations on her health, but her Deputy Governor urged that the state of her health was strictly a family affair and that she should be given the support she needs without intrusion into her privacy.
