Reports on her ailing became public on June 5 when opposition leader Raila Odinga accompanied by Kenya’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Manoah Esipisu visited her in a London hospital.

The late had maintained a low profile for some time, sparking speculations on her health, but her Deputy Governor urged that the state of her health was strictly a family affair and that she should be given the support she needs without intrusion into her privacy.
